We are a Charity with a primary mission to look after crew welfare.
What we stand for
As a charitable organisation, we understand the unique challenges faced by maritime workers. Day to day life onboard ships is not always plain sailing. Being far from home and loved ones, facing inequalities onboard, and dealing with harsh conditions at sea for months at a time can take it’s toll on seafarers mental health.
That’s where we come in.
Liverpool Seafarers Centre provides assistance to crews when their ships dock in Liverpool. From helping seafarers stay connected to family back home, to providing food parcels onboard and chaplaincy services.
Our centre itself is a safe and relaxing place for seafarers to unwind if they get time ashore. Equally important are our ship visits when turnaround time is limited.
Looking after crew welfare regardless of nationality, religion, race or gender is so important to us. Making people feel appreciated and cared for is our primary mission.

About Us
Where it all began
With a history dating back to the 19th century, our commitment to seafarers in the maritime industry remains steadfast throughout the years. The Liverpool Seafarers Centre was officially established on October 1st, 2008, as a result of the merger between the Anglican Mersey Mission to Seafarers and the Catholic Apostleship of the Sea (Liverpool). These organisations recognised the importance of a comprehensive outreach program to better serve the seafaring community.
Part of the International Christian Maritime Association
Liverpool Seafarers Centre is a member of The International Christian Maritime Association (ICMA). The association comprises of Christian not-for-profit organisations working for the welfare of seafarers around the world. Founded in 1969, ICMA currently represents more than 450 seafarers’ centres and 900 chaplains in approximately 125 countries.

Working with our Local Community
The Liverpool Seafarers Centre is committed to working together with various organisations so that we can provide Seafarers with the best possible service. We have worked collaboratively on Health & Dental initiatives, and continue to strengthen our partnerships with local Muslim, Hindu, and Sikh communities, as well as other Christian denominations.
We also have a strong support from the local business community who make welcome donations to our cause, such as food, clothing, electrical equipment and funds to help us run our centre. Together, we can create a better future for all seafarers.
